The most competitive city appraisal by the National
Statistical Bureau was completed with Qingdao being ranked the 21st most
competitive city of the one hundred city candidates, which is a strong
demonstration of Qingdao's competitiveness and economic developmen
t potentials.
The nationwide comprehensive appraisal intends to provide data for future
city development. Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and seven other cities top the
list. In terms of economic scale, transport facilities, and environment etc.

With the city's investment environment improved and people's income
increased, the GNP last year reached by 15.9% to 178.03 billion Yuan, showing a
